Haldi Doodh Ice Cream with Chocolate Chunks

This uniquely colored turmeric ice cream is inspired by the now-famous Indian health remedy: Haldi Doodh, otherwise known as Golden Milk. The creaminess is achieved by the luxurious combination of coconut cream and cashews and perfectly sweetened with only dates.


  • 1 can coconut cream
  • 1 cup cashews, soaked for 4+ hours
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon cardamom
  • 13 medjoul dates
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips or chunks


  1. Blend all ingredients together, except for the chocolate chunks, to a very smooth consistency.
  2. Add the dark chocolate chunks and pour the ice cream mixture into tupperware or a cake tin and put into the freezer to solidify, taking it out and stirring every 2 hours until completely frozen. Alternatively use an ice cream maker if you have one!
