Zingy Vegan Garden Cress Pesto

This vegan garden cress pesto is full of flavour and loaded with all kinds of nutritious ingredients like garden cress, basil, garlic, nutritional yeast, olive oil, and walnuts!


  • 1 cup packed fresh water/garden cress
  • 1 cup packed fresh basil
  • 1/4 cup walnuts
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup olive oil


  1. Add all the ingredients to a food processor and blend until smooth and creamy. It’s that simple!
  2. Now you can add it on top of smashed potatoes, serve it with gnocchi or trofie, or another pasta of choice, and so much more!


  • The walnuts can be replaced with pine nuts, cashews, or sunflower seeds for those with nut allergies.
  • If you prefer to keep it oil free you can easily omit the olive oil and just use 1/4 cup of water or broth instead.
